Breastfeeding in Public

Like the saying goes, "you don't want to see it, then look the other way."

For crying out loud, mothers who nurse in public are just FEEDING THEIR BABIES. We do not ask for attention. We are not asking your husbands to look at us. My son does not like a blanket over his head while he eats, do you? Will you cover up your baby's face while you feed them their bottle? I think not. Will you go and take your food to eat in a bathroom if I asked you to? I think not. If my baby is screaming because he is hungry, I am not going to go looking for a nursing room (if there is even one) nor a secluded area. Moms who bottle feed do not go looking for a private area when their kid is screaming to eat.. they sit and make the dang bottle.
If you say you and your husband don't want to see a part of my boob exposed when feeding my baby, I hope that you both don't watch porn, or read magazines, go to the beach, or watch TV for that matter. There are more boobs there than you will see when mothers are nursing.
Vent over. For now.. lol

  1. Girl, I would SO whoop my titty out if baby is hungry, I don't care what anyone says. It's MY child, not yours. If you don't like it, look the other way; if your husband or kid looking, teach 'em staring ain't right, am I right? What the hell is wrong with people nowadays? Breastfeeding is just as normal as a baby being hungry. Ugh, if I were to have a child, I'd just be like staring at them back, like "Hi, would you like some? You insensitive idiot."

Sorry, people who talk like that are just irritating. It boils my blood :p

  2. I can understand a child looking because they would be curious especally if they were bottle fed. My kids were all breastfed and I have never even noticed them looking at someone while they are feeding their child. My sister breastfeeds and does not cover up, and my kids have never once said anything nor stared, so I think it's curiousity on the part of the children.

As for the husband. QUIT BEING A DAMN PERVERT. OBVIOUSLY they have seen a breast before, maybe not being used in this manner, but it's nothing special..It's a hunk of jiggly flesh that hangs off the body and stores milk, whoopty doo!

I have NEVER been so insulted in my life as when I was told to use the MEN'S bathroom at Koren's preschool to nurse the twins. I had to sit in a chair next to the toilet to nurse my babies. I was so uncomfortable and insulted that I didn't let them nurse as long as they needed and when I walked out and was asked in a surprised tone, "oh they are done already?!" --- "No, but I didn't want to feed my poor babies in the bathroom next to the toilet." I'm not sure why I got a blank stare on that one ;)

  3. Amen, girl, Amen!! I'm lucky and never once had a bad experience with nursing in public, and we nursed for 2 1/2 yrs! (well, the last year was pretty much only at bedtime, but still...) I even whipped out the titty in the middle of Ikea once, and walked around nursing Caelyn, and no one said anything :)

AND even if I hadn't nursed, if Caelyn sees a mom nursing in public and ever asks about it, I tell her the truth: she is feeding her baby. End of story!

The only thing I did have to do was pump in the restroom at work when I had to pump, only because there really was nowhere else to do it. But no one ever said anything about my bags of milk in the freezer, and if they wanted to, they didn't.
