December 1- One Word
If I had to sum up this year in one word it would be, trying. It was a very trying year for me and my little family. It actually has been a big trial for us since leaving Hawai'i to move here. Being away from all we've ever known, away from family, and both of us being in school is extremely difficult. It was also the first year that I have had three children. Titan was born in January. I had to get situated with having three kids, had some health problems, my husband's corneal transplant, financial issues, being extremely home sick, and both of us having school work. Putting these issues into one sentence, for some reason, makes it seem like it was nothing. I am going to be so grateful to say goodbye to this year, although that means my Titan's first year is gone and it was so fast. :(
One year from today, the word I'd like to say that captures 2011 for me would be either growth or success.
December 2- Writing
I'm not much of a writer. I like to blog, but mostly about things I do with my kids or just updates on our lives. I'm not great with words, so I wouldn't say I'm a writer or love to write. However, if I had to say what keeps me from writing or does not contribute to my writing, it would be just my daily duties and also school work. I'm writing essays for school and having to do so, draws the fun out of writing. It's work to me and it stresses me out. I can't cut out school right now, so no I can't eliminate it.
December 3- Moment
I'm trying hard to think of a moment when I felt alive this year, and I am really struggling. I really don't want to skip a prompt though. I'm not sure if alive is the correct feeling for this moment but I'll just say it was when I gave birth to Titan on January 14th and when his two big brothers came to meet him. It was when all five of us were in that hospital room.
December 4- Wonder
I'm not even sure how to answer this. I don't know how or when I cultivated wonder this year. I did do a lot of wondering... like I wondered how bills would be paid, I wondered how I would get a ride to certain appointments or place, I wondered when I would see my family again, etc. That's a lot of wondering... lol
December 5- Let Go
This year, I have "let go" of myself-my physical appearance. A lot of mommies do this after having a baby and I guess I've done it too. I've never been one to wear make-up or buy the latest fashion items. Since moving up here, though, I have cut my hair once, never plucked my eyebrows, never wore any make up, never wore earrings, and I look sloppy. I lost a lot of weight after have Titan and so most of my clothes are loose on me.. making me look sloppy. Along with letting go of myself, my self confidence went out the window. One day I'll get it back, I hope.
December 6- Make-
A few months ago, I taught myself how to Crochet. The last two things I made were two hats (shown below) for a friend's daughter. I used yarn and a crochet hook.
December 7- Community
I have found community through my church. The people from my church are amazing and are very helpful. They are truly caring and are there if you need them. Next year, I hope to be more involved in church.
Another community is my mommy forums. I go on a few regularly and have "known" most of the mommies for years. Although we all are different in many ways, we all have the common factor of being mommies and can relate to each other in many ways as well.
December 8- Beautifully Different
Beautifully Different. Think about what makes you different and what you do that lights people up. Reflect on all the things that make you different – you’ll find they’re what make you beautiful.
I am the go-to person. I've noticed that many of my friends come to me with their problems or just to vent to. I assume that makes me a great listener. I love being the person that is there when a friend needs someone. I always try my best to give comforting words or any advice I may have.
I am the honest person. This kind of relates to my previous thread here. Even though I give words of comfort, I will also share what I honestly think.
I am empathetic and always try to see things from the other person's view. I always think about others' feelings before doing or saying something.
I try to be funny. hehe. I doubt that I am. :P I am also very easy going and I go-with-the-flow.
December 9- Party
Party Prompt: Party. What social gathering rocked your socks off in 2010? Describe the people, music, food, drink, clothes, shenanigans.
I haven't actually been to any parties this year. We celebrated Thanksgiving but it didn't necessarily rock my socks, lol.
December 10- Wisdom
Wisdom Wisdom. What was the wisest decision you made this year, and how did it play out?
I think the wisest decision I've made this year was deciding to stay in school. I almost decided to take a break for a few months. Now, I'm glad I didn't because it just means that I'm that much closer to graduating. Of course there are still times when I feel like I need a break but I hope that I just stick it out and finish.
