Got up, went down stairs to talk to our rental manager to get a copy of our old lease, came back up and got Titan ready. I got ready and the two of us left to his dr's appt. About 20 minutes after we left, the hubby woke Tayven up, got him ready and got him on the bus for school.
Titan didn't care for his doctor or his nurse.. he cried even when they weren't touching him! lol He's still freaking 22 lbs. He gained like 1/2 a pound in TWO months! ugh. I'm going to fatten this kid up. My doctor thinks maybe my milk supply is diminishing but I don't think it is. I honestly am not sure how to tell if it is. I think it's because he never cared for baby food and so I stopped feeding it to him. I've just been feeding him from my plate. Idk but the doc will see him again at the end of January to see if he gains weight. I'm going to be feeding him like crazy lol. He was 22 lbs which is only the 61 percentile and 31 in. which is the 93 percentile.
He was a bit above average for his milestones and development which is good. :)
After his appt, we came home, hung out, and waited for the hubby to get home from school to have dinner. Now, we're just hanging out in the living room watching TV.
I don't think at this point weight gain is really THAT important, is it? As long as he's not starving, and seems satisfied, he is probably just using more energy than he is taking in, ya know? He sounds perfectly healthy otherwise, and so what if the height and weight percentiles don't match exactly? Just means he's tall and skinny :) Sometimes doctors just want to find something wrong even when it's fine. Keep up the good work, mama, I say he's just evening out :D
ReplyDeleteGaining weight isn't important at this age as it was when he was a newborn but, only two pounds in 4 months?! He said he will see him at the end of January and if he still isn't gaining then he will be concerned. He just told me for now to give him more solids. He thinks my milk supply is diminishing. Titan eats every 3-4 hours but sometimes even every 3 hours still. If he doesn't gain anything by January, I will have to start giving him whole milk.. and then eventually weaning :(
ReplyDelete*it was supposed to say every 2 hours still.
ReplyDeleteWell I hope he gains weight. I'm sorry this has to be stressing you out if you didnt plan to be weaning him off quite yet. I hope everything works out though.
ReplyDeleteyou can check your milk supply if you pump it or try squeezing it into a cup if you dont have a pump lol also try baby food again cuz i think there taster buds change like every 3mo or something when they are this little zayne had the same issue i swear he was like 25lbs from like 8mo till he was 13mo lol then he gained 5lbs at his 18mo checkup
ReplyDeletePumping isn't an adequate way to tell how much they actually are getting when they are on the breast especially since I have never pumped and am not a pro (this is the answers I got from the La Leche League forum. Also, I don't think i'll be trying baby food when he's already 11 months and eating regular food. I'm just starting to feed hi more.
ReplyDeleteGabi, thank you. You're right it will suck if I have to wean because I'm not ready and neither is he :(
