Sibling Love

Forgive me if this post is all over the place. Often times, I have a hard time finding the right words to say and when it comes to how I feel about my children, words often don’t do it justice.
I remember when Tayven was our only child. He was our world. I couldn’t imagine even having another child. Then, he turned 2 years old. He was already very independent for a 2 year old. A few weeks after his birthday, I found out I was pregnant. I already had “baby fever” a bunch of times before that. I was so happy and excited, but at the same time I was so scared and sad. Was I taking all the attention away from Tayven? Will I love the next baby the same as I love Tay? Will I be able to share my love between the two?
Tayven was always around adults and sometimes a few cousins, but other than that he was pretty lonely. He would always want to be outside and play with the neighborhood kids. When Trenton was born, Tayven was amazing with him. I couldn’t wait until Trenton was big enough so they could really play.
Then, we tried to conceive Titan and got pregnant when Trenton was 11 months old. They were going to be pretty close in age. Again, I couldn’t wait to see how Tay and Trent would be with the new baby.
The point I’m getting at is that it warms my heart when I see all of my boys playing together. It is one of the greatest feelings ever. A great feeling next to the feeling of giving birth. To see them interact, to play, to kiss or hug each other, and to help one another is absolutely amazing. Yes, siblings often fight lol but even through the fighting they still love each other at the end of the day.
Sometimes I’ll catch them in the sweetest moments. One time I caught Tayven reading to his little brothers. There was another incident where I took the two boys to play on the playground in our complex (which is right across the parking lot and I could see it from our living room window). Titan was sleeping in the house so I had to keep checking on him. Well, Titan woke up so I had the boys come inside but Trenton wouldn’t listen. Titan was screaming, so I went into the apartment to get him and I told Tayven to go get Trenton and bring him home. I watched from the living room window (I was nursing Titan) as Tayven held his brothers hand and made Trenton look both ways in the parking and then they crossed together. It was one of the sweetest moments that I’ll never forget. Some other times are the random cuddles and kisses they give each other out of the blue.
I can’t imagine Tayven ever being an only child anymore. A lot of the time I have a hard time even remembering what it was like to just have one kid. With each kid you have, it’s hard to ever imagine what life was like before them.
I love my boys. :)

50!

My mom turned 50 on January 30th. My aunties (her sisters) threw her a surprise party. A week before the party, my aunty had asked me and my siblings to write her a letter. Here is my letter:

To my mommy and best friend,
First off, you are fifty! Fifty, Mom! I can’t believe it. Hehe It’s ok though because you definitely don’t look it! I was asked to write you a letter and I’m unable to think of what I want to say. There is a lot to say but since I talk to you regularly, I feel like I’ve said it all. I’ll just start off by saying that I appreciate all that you do for me and for the boys. I just want to make sure you know that everything you have done is appreciated and none of it goes unnoticed.
You are my best friend, not just my mom. We’ve always had each other’s back (so to speak). I’ve cried on your shoulder and you’ve cried on mine. We argue, fight, have gotten mad each other (these are rare but they have happened), but we’ve also had so much more good times together. You raised me to be the best I can be. By your greatest achievements, personality traits, and efforts, you have taught me that I can be a great person and a great mother to my children. You’ve taught me to not care what others think and to treat others how I want to be treated (cliché I know.. but it’s true). By your mistakes and bad choices, you’ve taught me many things as well. No one is perfect and EVERYONE makes mistakes, so I don’t care about the things people have to say about you nor do I care what they may think (besides, no one but ME has been there to know anything anyway). You and I both know that you are a great person with great intentions who loves everyone and is always set out to please everyone (which you should stop and learn to say no :P ).
I honestly have no idea what I would do without you. I still can’t believe I even moved here to Utah. I bet no one would have thought that, huh? I miss you like crazy every day. I miss our daily ventures to “run errands” where we would land up buying things we didn’t need. I miss the days when you would bring me food I was craving or food just because (you know I love food). I miss having my mom with me. I miss your 10 minute meals. I miss your hoarding.. HAHA. You’re so far away and it sucks. But you know what? I’ll see you again (hopefully SOON) and we’ll make the best of it. I’m also going to work on getting you to move up here.  ;)
Are you crying yet? If not, stop holding it in and trying to be tough! Hehe. I’m crying while typing this, so it’s ok Mom. I guess I’ll end it here. I hope you have an amazing dinner and I’m grateful for Aunty them for making this dinner for you. You do deserve it! I truly wish we could all be there, but it’s ok. You’ll have a good time anyway! I wish you a Happy Birthday and MANY more years to come (I need you!)  I love you so much, Mom. Forever and Always.
Love your daughter,
Caprice <3

My aunties took those letters, printed it in a nice font, and framed them. They set it on a table along with her cake and a picture of her and her siblings.

Here is my mom (who does not look 50!) with Rayne and her husband Harold.

Here is my little big sister (she's younger but a lot taller than me) and my older brother with my mom.
It's just missing my older sister and I.

My mom said she had a great time. She was really surprised. She loved the letters. Everyone was crying when they were read. I wish we were able to be there, but I'm just glad she had a good time with the rest of our family. :)

Thankful for: November 9th-12th

November 9th- Today I am thankful for our Bishop and all that he has done for us. He is a great man and has done more for us than many of our family members ever has. He is sincerely caring and a very humble man. If there is one person I'll miss when we leave Utah, it will be him.

November 10th- I am thankful for Titan. He is a sweet, happy, goofy, and loving baby boy. We're still nursing and it is a huge accomplishment for me to have come this far. He loves his big brothers and tries so hard to rough & tumble with them. He is easy going and mellow. I couldn't have asked for a better baby. He is my sweetheart!

November 11th- I am thankful for our veterans.. all of the people who have served and currently do serve in the military. My brother is one of them. He was in the Marine Corp and I think he is currently in the Army Reserves (not 100% sure lol).

November 12th- I am thankful for my siblings. We are not as close as a lot of other siblings I know but we do care for each other and if one of us is in need we can be assured that one of us will be there. My older sister calls me on a daily basis (which can be annoying but hey at least I know she cares and is thinking about me). My little sister always thinks of my kids and she would help me out if I ask. My older brother helped me out with a cell phone. When we moved here we had no cell and no way to contact family back home. He put me on his cell phone plan and I am grateful.
